Urban mobility is rapidly evolving, and Infinite Machine’s newly unveiled Olto electric bike positions itself at the intersection of design, performance, and daily practicality. Created for city dwellers who demand both utility and style, the Olto reimagines the e-bike experience with a form factor that blends moped-like comfort with pedal-assist functionality. As cities lean toward cleaner and more efficient transport options, this all-electric two-wheeler emerges as a thoughtful contender in the personal mobility space.
Olto electric bike boasts a sleek, design-driven rethink of urban two-wheeled transportation. Priced at $3,495 with shipments expected in fall 2025, it blends moped-style ease with e-bike legality, fitting seamlessly into bike lanes while offering impressive off-road capabilities.
Designer: Infinite Machine
Constructed from extruded aluminum and steel, the e-bike emphasizes durability and weather resistance. Its bold, angular frame evokes cyberpunk aesthetics yet remains purpose-built for function, supporting parking outdoors without concern. Riders can select silver or black finishes, complemented by modular accessories like a child seat, rear rack, or basket, allowing easy adaptation to daily needs. A key innovation is the magnetic foldable pedal system at the front, which transforms into footrests when throttle-powered. These pedals engage a chain drive for true pedal-assist, extending range and ride flexibility. Hidden rear foot pegs and under-seat passenger handles mean it comfortably accommodates two riders.
Power comes from a 750 W rear hub motor capable of 2 kW peak output, software-limited to 20 mph in bike lane mode and 33 mph off-road. A dual-suspension chassis and hydraulic disc brakes (200 mm front/190 mm rear) deliver a smooth, confident ride across varied terrain. The 48 V, 1.2 kWh UL‑certified lithium-ion pack nests under the seat, hot‑swappable in seconds. It recharges fully in approximately 5 and a half hours, or half as quickly with the optional “Super Charger” offering around 40 miles per charge. Weatherproof USB‑A and USB‑C ports in the stem help keep devices powered while riding.
The app- and NFC-enabled phone‑as‑key system allows tap-to-unlock and proximity auto-unlock, with over‑the‑air firmware updates available. Infinite Machine’s “Infinite Security” suite includes GPS tracking, LTE connectivity, a backup battery that keeps systems active even when the main pack is removed, and an audible alarm with motor and steering lock. A discreet AirTag slot and U‑lock–enabled kickstand offer extra protection against theft. The cockpit supports an intuitive user experience. A 4.3″ LCD panel displays ride data, while a phone mount enables navigation and system control. Controls include a twist throttle, reverse, boost, turn-signal switch, horn, and headlight toggle.
At 176 lb, the Olto is heavy for stairs, but its ride-ready design aims to reduce the need for lugging it indoors. The incorporated lights, horn, turn signals, and automatic on/off function enhance visibility and safety in urban environments. Infinite Machine, backed by a16z and angel investors, developed the Olto using insights from its P1 scooter, reorienting the design for broader adoption on bike lanes. The company plans to offer spare parts and partner with service networks ahead of launch.
